About Stony Ford

Stonyford is a diverse terrain, multiple use OHV paradise located in the Mendocino National Forest. Stonyford offers high speed to medium speed single track and 50" wide trails of mostly hard pack terrain. Tight twisty single track is rare, however Trail #36 Steam Donkey is HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended!

The hill climbs found at Stonyford are all fairly easy however a few black diamonds are found scattered throughout the park.

Stonyford is for the most part an easy to moderate skill level park. All trails are well maintained and wide enough to able to have a choice of lines. Black diamond trails are mostly tight and twisty. Beware of black diamond hill climbs and decent for you may meet your maker! (not really but expect them to be LOOSE DRY AND ROCKY!!)

Stonyford IS a National Forest which means that there are noise restrictions. Make sure you have proper spark arrestors fixed to your bike that meet sound decibel requirements. Rangers and staff WILL stop you these tickets are not cheap!

Stonyford has many interconnecting roads so if you have a chance stop by the Stonyford Work Center for a map (information to reach the center can be found on the Stonyford Contact Page link below).

Stonyford reaches far out west into the Mendocino National Forest towards Clear Lake and beyond. Stonyford has many trails and roads that allow this to happen including the OHV Corridor that leads to the Upper Lake OHV area. Information about using the OHV corridor can be found here: OHV Corridor Instructions

Gas and food can be found in the town of Stonyford but carry limited supplies. The main store is the Stonyford General Store. I personally have found really good meats here. There are also limited moto supplies so make sure you have your essentials. This should be used as a last resort and always call before hand (1-530-963-3235 Stonyford General Store).

General Stonyford contact information can be found here : Stonyford Contact Page

If you are not having a fire in a designated area a permit is required. This forest has seen too many fires so be sure your fires are always out or the Rangers and staff will pick your pockets.
